Worship Service Ministries

Worship Service Ministers provide leadership in each area of service and mercy. They promote an attitude of Christlike servanthood, encouraging all members to follow Christ’s example in helping those who are in need. They plan and coordinate service projects in which the entire church is invited to participate according to their gifts and skills. They assist in a particuplar part of the church service to have a smooth and enjoyable worship experience. There are many opportunites to participate. There is room for you!

An acolyte is a person who assists the presiding minister/pastor in worship and carries out certain duties, including candle lighting; carrying the processional cross; holding or getting items the pastor needs at baptisms, Holy Communion, and other worship acts. Acolytes may be children, youth, and adults.

Altar Guild

A volunteer group of the parish whose ministry is to care for the altar, vestments, vessels, and altar linens of the parish. Altar Guild members prepare the sanctuary for services, and clean up afterwards. Altar Guild members frequently supervise the decoration of the sanctuary of the parish with flowers.

St. Mark's offers Children’s Chapel or “Sunday School” during the 10:00 service. A short, age-appropriate lesson is taught to children ages 3-10 in our fellowship hall. Their lessons include the gospel reading, music and interactive activities.  The youth return to church at communion.  Our nursery is staffed for little children during the entire 10:00 am service.

This ministry provides musical leadership for congregational singing in the worship of the church. Choirs may also sing anthems or make other special musical offerings to beautify and enhance the experience of worship. The primary role of the choir is to lead and support the congregation's worship through singing.

Coffee Hour is an opportunity for parishioners and new comers to gather and greet and fellowship with one another after the 10 a.m. Sunday service. Volunteers prepare coffee and provide snacks.  The coffee, water, juice, condiments, and paper goods are provided by the church.

The Greeter Ministry welcomes all to Sunday and Holiday services by greeting everyone as they enter the church.  Greeters also assist in helping visitors feel welcome.

A  ministry of welcome and hospitality. Ushers greet people at the door, offer the service bulletin, and answer any questions visitors may have. They help people find seats when the church is crowded, oversee the collection and presentation of the congregation’s offering, and move people forward in an efficient manner at the time of communion.
